The Superbowl is such a huge event in the United States that there is no wonder the pressure is so high. The Superbowl has the biggest audience in the world and millions of people watch it. There is no wonder after all that Superbowl commercials are also really famous. People watch, admire or actually criticize them. And of course some Superbowl commercials turn out to be more appreciated than others. Critics have claimed that the quality of the Superbowl commercials presented in 2012 was in general very high and the controversial aspects that could have determined outrage regarding some of the ads were amazingly little. However, there were also some reviews saying that big ideas and impressive videos also missed from the 2012 Superbowl commercials.

Well, some of the best reviews received this year on Superbowl commercials was given to the video presented by M&M. The reviews said that this commercial was really entertaining, well branded, managing to catch the attention of the viewer, this actually being the perfect recipe for a successful commercial. If people liked the M&M commercial presented at the Superbowl, they surely loved the one that Honda created. Other very appreciated Superbowl commercials include Skechers’s idea, which was quite surprising, but amazingly well received by the public. The list of the most appreciated Superbowl commercials in 2012 could not be formed without a Chrysler ad. The company which made history last year with the Eminem spot, did not disappoint in 2012 either, in fact their commercial actually being the biggest surprise of the event. The message was unexpected and the idea rather unique. Chevrolet, Fiat and E*TRADE also managed to present great Superbowl commercials.

Well, one of the biggest disappointments when it comes to the 2012 Superbowl commercials is the spot presented by Volkswagen. The teaser showed by the company managed to draw more than 10 million viewers, but the whole commercial was considered to be quite disappointing. The cute dog who is trying to lose weight to be able to chase the car was believed to be an idea which made no sense. However, the commercial still has its fans.

Year after year, the Superbowl is a huge event in the United States of America. This National Football League championship benefits of broadcast in the whole country and is one of the most watched TV programs ever in the U.S. Approximately 90 million viewers are in front of their TVs each year and the number is slowly growing. This is why the Superbowl commercials are always out of the ordinary and the prices payed by companies for the advertising space during this event are huge, millions of dollars.

Even with such price tags, Superbowl commercials are a big part of the event and through the years, some of them remained, more than others, in the memory of viewers. The first of the famous Superbowl commercials appeared in 1973 and featured New York Jets player Joe Namath in an ad for Noxzema, a skincare product. In 1977 Xerox had one of the Superbowl commercials where the company introduced a new machine through a character called Brother Dominic who was duplicating documents in an old monastery. 1980 was the year of Coca-Cola to top off the Superbowl commercials with an ad featuring “Mean Joe” Greene, a player for the Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro who receives a Coca-Cola from a fan and he repays the fan with his jersey. The most famous of the Superbowl commercials appeared in 1984, for Apple’s Macintosh. The ad had a 1984 theme inspired from the novel with the same name written by George Orwell and was directed by Ridley Scot. In 1990, Ridley Scot directed another one of the Superbowl commercials – for Nissan this time. One of the funniest Superbowl commercials ever appeared in 1993 and the actors were Michael Jordan and Larry Bird, who played a game in order to see who will win a McDonald’s meal. After 2000, the Superbowl commercials that remained in the memory of viewers were primarily those for Doritos and Coca-Cola.

Even if Superbowl commercials are extremely expensive for companies, every cent pays off when their ads are seen by a target of over 90 million people. And the nice thing is that every company comes with something new and interesting for this event.
